This new state of the art, high solids anaerobic digestion facility in SLO County has been converting organic waste into carbon-neutral biogas and high-grade natural compost since September 2018. Team Oasis is proud to have facilitated the permitting process for the first Kompogas Plant in North America, a subsidiary of the Swiss-based Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) . The facility supports California’s legislative goals of diverting 75% of organics from landfills by 2025 with support from the local community and in cooperation with local waste hauler Waste Management and the San Luis Obispo County Integrated Waste Management Authority.

“To date the plant has diverted over 140,000 tons of organic waste with the help of locals, including residents, businesses and agriculture. From this waste, the facility has produced over 10 million M3 of biogas, and fed over 11 million KwH of electricity into the local grid, powering the equivalent of around 600 homes per year. The facility has also produced over 30,000 tons of compost and 6,500,000 gallons of liquid fertilizer, making this a closed loop, circular economy initiative.” www.kompogas-slo.com

At the 5th Anniversary Celebration HZI Kompogas’s Managing Director, Heath Jones, was presented Certificates of Recognition from the California State Senate and Assembly by Assembly Member Dawn Addis’ staff, on her behalf (pictured above).
